Three-Wave Survey of Teachers' K–12 EdTech Use Before and During COVID-19 Pandemic

Mon, April 25, 2:30 to 4:00pm PDT (2:30 to 4:00pm PDT), San Diego Convention Center, Exhibit Hall B

Abstract

A nationally representative survey in February–March 2020 was conducted to document educational technology use and professional development needs of teachers, not knowing the COVID-19 pandemic was on the horizon. We then fielded a second wave survey in June 2020 to compare, cross-sectionally, teachers' experiences and needs after the transition to remote learning due to the COVID-19 pandemic. A third wave of the survey was conducted in May-June 2021 to reflect on the largely hybrid 2020-21 school year. Similarities and differences across waves are reported to provide critical recent information about the barriers in equitable access to technology and support teachers need in using educational media and technology in remote and in-person classroom settings across three time points.
