Abstract

This paper makes a case for visual methods to enhance education’s study of race and racism. Existing visual methods literature undertheorizes the everyday relationship between race, racism, and visual media. We highlight two empirical studies as illustrative examples of the benefits visual methods can afford understandings of racism in education research.
