Development and Validation of an Academic Advisement Evaluation Measure in Pharmacy Students

Abstract

This study took part within the pharmacy program at a large, public university in the US. The study presented the development and validation of a student advisement evaluation measure, examining students’ satisfaction with an academic advising program and if the program developed students’ understanding of academy and career. The measure was analyzed using factor analysis and showed two valid and reliable scales: advisement process and understanding. Overall, students felt satisfied with the program and their satisfaction increased across the three years of the study. This measure may be useful for faculty and school administrators as it can help to improve the quality of the advising program. It can also direct students to school resources to develop their learning outcomes and plans.
