The purpose of this study is to review the existing meaningful work measures used in empirical studies. By reviewing seven measures of meaningful work, we identified the main components of meaningful work measures. We also reviewed the commonalities and differences among the measures, according to job characteristics (e.g., the level of autonomy and the purpose and goals of work), sensemaking (e.g., a dynamic process and interplay among job, individuals, and organizations), and workplace conditions (e.g., work environments, contexts, and rewards).
