Abstract

Although numerous mental health apps are available to public, the process of its development is not clear. The purpose of the current study is to systematically describe the entire process of design, development and evaluation of a mental health app. Using an instructional systems model, ADDIE, we described the entire mental health app design and development process with five phases. During these phases, we conducted expert review, usability test, and examined whether the mental health app improved emotional and psychological issues. Overall, participants were positive with the mental health app, and it turned out to be effective to improve users’ emotional and psychological issues with those who were categorized in low and medium risk conditions after the initial screening.
