Abstract

The struggle for Black lives manifests on and off college campuses; on a daily basis, Black students are made aware of and encounter social injustice. The problem this study explores is racialized oppression, and how it impacts and shapes experiences of Black college students. An emergent topic, which fills a gap in existing literature, considers the influence of social media engagement on the Black student experience. As traditional acts of activism continue to be implemented in online environments, examination into the utility of social media activism as a tool for resistance, organization, and coping is necessary to broaden understanding of how Black college students successfully navigate racist campus settings.
