This article identifies how aspects of Avá-Guarani culture influence the administration and organization of indigenous schools located in their territories, understanding the hybrid relationship in which indigenous school education is founded. Interview were applied in eighteen indigenous lands. Central ideas were grouped into thematic categories: a) ethnic aspects of school education; b) school administration; c) modes of teaching and learning d) aspects of traditional Avá-Guarani education. Results pointed that Avá-Guarani school education highlights the hybridism proposing to understand disruptions, approximations and resignifications in relation to the traditional school. The hybridism expands what can be understood by school, beyond its bureaucratic aspects and its objective of professional training.
