Queer(ing) Land Relations: Ethnographic Witnessing of Two-Spirt and Queer Indigenous Educators

Abstract

This paper is from a chapter of the dissertation in which I focus on the stories, memories, testimonios, dreams, life histories, and experiences of 2S/Queer Indigenous educators. Particularly, I participate in and enact an ethic of ethnographic witnessing where I join 2S/Queer Indigenous educators in ceremonial events and informal gathering settings to witness how these educators are re-negotiating sacred Indigenous practices through their lived realities of being 2S/Queer. I argue that the 2S/Queer Indigenous educators reimagine learning beyond notions of what I present as settler curricularity, or the residue of settler colonial knowledge that permeates ideological space, and instead foregrounds a Queer Land education that centers their community, the Land, and their Queer relationalities.
