Abstract

Across the U.S., district-level equity directors are taking up work to disrupt and transform long-standing issues of racial oppression in schools. However, we know little about the theories of change that undergird and shape how they approach their work. The purpose of this study is to examine the theories of change that motivate how district-level equity directors approach their charge. We ask the following research question: How do equity directors describe the aims of their work and the activities through which they seek to realize those aims?
