Antiracist Educational Leadership: A Meta-Analysis of Critical Discourse Studies

Abstract

To develop a deep understanding of what constrains or emancipates leaders to lead from an anti-racist orientation a critical, interpretative qualitative meta-analysis was conducted of studies using Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) as a theoretical framework or methodology. After conducting a CDA of ten studies this paper reports on the findings of the authors discussion and recommendations sections. Taken together the studies illustrate how policies impact actions as they are embedded in a neoliberal context. Further, that there is a need for increased anti-racist training for educational leaders and there is hope for emancipatory leadership.
