"A Doctorate Is Not Just a Dream": Latina Graduate Students Story Their Experiences

Abstract

This study reports on the narratives of first generation Latina millennials’ stories as they complete graduate degrees and highlights the institutional and community supports that helped them succeed. The goal was to share the participants’ testimonios or narratives “told in the first person by a narrator who is also the real protagonist or witness to the events she or he recounts” (Beverley, 2008) to highlight their lived experiences and their perceptions of their success.
