Developing and Validating a Framework of Mathematical Knowledge of Teacher Educator Through a Delphi Method

Abstract

Because of the recognition that teacher educators are taking on greater responsibility in educational reform, researchers are increasingly interested in teacher educators' professional development. In the research of mathematics education, although many frameworks of mathematics teacher educator knowledge have been proposed, there is still a lack of external perspective on the research of mathematics teacher educator knowledge. Therefore, this study focuses on the mathematics teacher educator knowledge under the teacher education system in China. Based on existing frameworks, a preliminary framework of mathematical knowledge of teacher educator (MKTE) was developed. The validation process was based on a Delphi method. The final framework of MKTE that consists of 4 domains and 12 sub-domains could then be validated.
