Writing Through (and Not Just About) Research

Abstract

This paper explores a narrative form of academic writing that focuses on representing the moments of doing interview-based research as a way of describing and theorizing research findings. Specifically, this paper explores how the doing of research might be represented if the writing of research focuses on narrating the events that took place during fieldwork. This framing upends normative divisions between parts of the research process, namely the assumption that data analysis is something that happens only after data collection has concluded.
