Part C (IDEA) Early Intervention services in the United States include an emphasis on building capacity among parents to understand and embed recommended practices with their infant or toddler in natural environments. Providers aim to tailor this process to each family’s strengths and needs, but there is a gap in looking specifically at what unique needs may arise or how providers may adjust their efforts to support parents with Intellectual Disability (ID) and/or a mental health condition (MHC). We surveyed a national sampling of Part C EI providers (n = 55) to assess prevalence of such caregivers on caseloads, relevant professional development, existing needs, and recommendations based on their professional experience. Findings and implications will be discussed.
