In literature on teaching development at schools, many authors describe student feedback on teaching as a very useful instrument. Based on this feedback, teachers are thought to identify and develop improvement areas. This meta-analysis aims at investigating differential effects of student feedback interventions in primary and secondary schools on different aspects of teaching quality, including 23 studies with 314 effect sizes. Using a hierarchical meta-regression model, a weighted mean effect size of d=0.27 was found. Findings showed no significant differences between the effects on different teaching quality aspects, with the exception of a significantly lower effect of scales and items which measure the overall impression of teaching, suggesting that student feedback is very suitable for all aspects of teachings quality.
