We do not seek — here — to define the poetic event. Rather we watch for the moment to hold the ephemeral, to seek to describe it in all its obscurity — its clarity — if only for a passing glance. This paper is both a conceptual and an embodied exploration of the event, a happening perhaps not bounded by time and space. We are particularly interested in the confluence of the poetic event and the pedagogical event: how might we recognize the encounter and within it envisionings of our humanity? In attending to this question, we offer an arts-based essay that questions the literary and philosophical components and possibilities of a poetic event.
