Technology, Marginalization, and Gender Concerns on Access to Higher Education in Developing Countries

Abstract

COVID 19 pandemic brought unprecedented challenges for rethinking education. Universities worldwide closed from March 2020 due to COVID-19.Institutions and individuals adjusted to new ways of doing this. This brought disparities to the education system in terms of access, delivery and more so differences in digital divide. There was gender differences on online engagement and on technologies used for teaching and learning purposes in developing countries. This study targeted University students and academic members of staff from a public and a private university in Kenya. The objective of the study was to explore the topic on technology, marginalization and gender concerns on access to higher education. The study found technologies challenges exist and some are related to gender and marginalization.
