Exploring the History of Motherscholars: An Oral History Project

Mon, April 25, 11:30am to 1:00pm PDT (11:30am to 1:00pm PDT), San Diego Convention Center, Floor: Upper Level, Sails Pavillion

Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to share motherscholars’ oral histories and generate discussion around intersectional roles. Stories will include such topics as: tenure and promotion, support systems, the impact of children on their work, and intersecting identities as parents and scholars. The history of motherscholars in the field of social education will provide insight into the changing landscape of the scholarly community including both changes from the past and perspectives on the work still needed to support motherscholars in the academic field of education broadly, and social education in particular.
