COVID Learning Loss: A Meta-Analysis

Sat, April 23, 2:30 to 4:00pm PDT (2:30 to 4:00pm PDT), San Diego Convention Center, Exhibit Hall B

Abstract

COVID-19-related school closures disrupted students’ academic learning on a global scale. With increasing evidence calculating the extent of real COVID learning loss, no research synthesis has attempted to compile findings from different studies. To fill this gap in the literature, our interim findings illustrate that COVID-related learning loss is real and significant compared to previous school years. Through the development of a meta-analysis framework for analyzing this issue, we provide a foundation for research on COVID learning loss and practical guidance for educational practice and research.
