An Internal Examination of Preservice Teacher Preparation in Literacy: Examining Data for Program Improvement

Abstract

Every child has the right to a highly effective teacher of reading, and teacher preparation programs must ensure they are graduating candidates capable of filling this role. This study examined one K-6 Teacher Education program's literacy focused state testing data to determine if candidates were meeting expectation before and after implementing interventions. Data revealed first time pass rates of test scores improved significantly following the interventions.
