Sun, April 24, 8:00 to 9:30am PDT (8:00 to 9:30am PDT), San Diego Convention Center, Floor: Upper Level, Room 9

Abstract

Understanding the systematic structures in place to assess bilingual students in Spanish is one of the areas bilingual preservice teachers desperately need. Most teachers lack the proper preparation, expertise and previous experience with assessments used in schools today. Their understanding of how Spanish language proficiency assessments are used in schools to place, monitor, and exit bilingual students is an area where universities with bilingual education programs must invest time in order to prepare their bilingual teacher candidates to enter the field.
