Students struggle with self-regulated learning. Nudge is an online tool designed to scaffold effective self-regulated learning (SRL) skills and strategies utilizing the Success through Self-Regulated Learning (StSRL) theoretical framework. Nudge was implemented in a human physiology course where students received 14 different Nudge prompts over the semester. Students were asked to respond to each prompt. Number of student responses were calculated and regressed onto final course grades in an Ordinal Least Squares regression while controlling for previous college grade point average, age, gender, and years spent in college. Number of Nudge responses were a significant predictor of students’ final course grades. Findings lend additional support that the Nudge tool bridges theory to practice and leads to increased academic success.
