Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted the importance of social emotional learning (SEL) in online learning for children, parents, and teachers. Amidst a backdrop of sociopolitical protests, expectations for social emotional learning to center on equity and social justice is critical. This paper explores the transformative social emotional learning experiences of children, parents, and teachers (Jagers, et. al., 2019) and how this can be fostered online. Looking ahead, online learning will be a part of teaching and learning. This study aims to provide guidance for teacher education programs in supporting social emotional learning that centers on equity and social justice.
