Rebelling Against Standardization: An Emerging Teacher's Desire to Support Students Navigate the World Beyond the Classroom

Abstract

As our nation continues to contend with increasingly hostile, racist rhetoric, educators must consider their role in ensuring disruption of such discourse (Rembert et al., 2019). This qualitative case study examines how one preservice teacher (PT) enacted critical literacy pedagogies in her field placement, methods courses, and ongoing professional development. Preliminary findings, discussion, and implications will be shared.
