Abstract

This study interrogates and challenges graduate scholar-educator assumptions shared in learning spaces grounded in critical leadership theories. We explore how resistance to curriculum, critical leadership theories, and supporting tools to cultivate anti-racist leaders, perpetuates systemic educational inequities for marginalized students in schools today (Waite, 2021). Three Black women doctoral students and a Black woman professor enact an ethnographic study examining shared and individual dialogues occurring in educational leadership preparation program (ELPP) classrooms. Deficit perspectives of graduate scholar-educators solidifies the urgency to adopt critical leadership theories within ELPPs. Professors need to create reflective opportunities for aspiring leaders to reimagine schools – leadership cannot continue to get back to normal (Ladson-Billings, 2021).
