Mapping Contemporary Scholarship of Asian American Women and Leadership Since the 1970s: A Bibliometric Study

Abstract

Asian American women (AAW) and leadership in the U.S. has drawn an increasing research attention since fields of Gender, Culture and Leadership, and Asian American Studies were introduced in the U.S. in the 1970s. The purpose of this paper is to develop a systematic review study quantitatively describing the major trends in the research literature since the 1970s on AAW and leadership. This review research applied bibliometric analytical methods on two indexed databases Scopus and Web of Science in combination with network analysis on VOSviewer with the commands of co-citation, co-occurance/co-keywords to systematically seek answer to the study inquiry on three dimensions - (1) The general volume and distribution, (2) Authors and literature works, and (3) Intellectual structure.
