Abstract

Abstract
This paper will attempt to provide the significance of race-based scholarships for universities in the recruitment and retention of students of color. Moreover, it will look at the language barriers in university gift agreements making it difficult for donors continuing to give to existing race-based scholarships and/or creating new ones. Furthermore, the limitation of creating or awarding race-based scholarships could prevent students of color from attending universities and decreased enrollment may have a negative financial impact. Consequently, restrictions of race-based scholarships could make institutions less diverse. This paper will look at better solutions in solving race-based scholarship concerns at universities.
