Decolonial Thinking in the Context of Internationalization of Higher Education

Abstract

This paper examines key notions of decolonial theory and its implications for the internationalization of higher education (IHE). I will discuss key notions of decolonial thinking: coloniality of knowledge, epistemicide, and border thinking by drawing on the works of the main decolonial theorists; Mignolo, Maldonado-Torres, Grosfoguel, Dussel, Quijano, and Santos, and then indicate how these notions unfold themselves in practices of the internationalization of higher education. This paper aims to highlight uneven global power relations and resource flows in the context of IHE not to reproduce it further.
