Abstract

Words matter. College presidents are at a moment in history where they must decide whether to speak and act on issues of racial justice or slink to the background. Using a theoretical framework drawn from Ray, Rudolph, Underhill, and Luke’s racialized theory of organizations (2017) we have analyzed the words and actions of 24 presidents of Faith-based colleges in June 2020 and June 2021 to critically analyze the rhetoric and results. We compare the findings to our previous studies of presidents of Research 1 universities, community colleges, and regional institutions.
