Abstract
Discussions of race and racial disparities can be complex topics to deconstruct with teacher education students (Evans‐Winters & Hoff, 2011; Hudson-Vassell et al., 2018;), especially in times of heightened national, racial tensions. However, these conversations cannot be avoided, as they are essential to teachers’ development of practices that promote antiracism (Galloway, Callin, James, Vimegnon, & McCall, 2019). This autoethnographic essay highlights one teacher education researcher she navigated the convergence of the global Covid-19 pandemic, the heightened political and racial climate of the time, and the teaching of anti-racist pedagogies. While simultaneously negotiating the impact of these factors on her own life.
