The research questions centered on the universals and specifics of the contribution of mathematics self-efficacy, students’ opportunity to learn, and their interplay effect on math performance. Linear regression and path analysis models were mainly conducted to answer research questions. Findings confirms mathematics self-efficacy and student’s OTL have significant impacts on students’ math performance across and within various countries/districts; indicates an overall effect of mathematics self-efficacy to math performance varies between OTL levels (though patterns are country specific). To maximize the established effect of self-efficacy on math performance, students need to be exposed needed knowledge/content; reveals patterns of the relationship of mathematics self-efficacy, OTL, and math performance across 63 different countries and economies.
