The research-to-practice gap is a well-documented and persistent problem in education. This literature review sought to pinpoint contributing factors to the gap using the absorptive capacity framework. The findings identified several disconnects between the research and practice communities. These disconnects lead to specific strategies that professors of educational research can employ in their instruction and their own scholarly activity to help close the gap and improve research methods instruction for both researchers and practitioners.
