This scholarly paper explores the educational studies in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields through intercultural competence. STEM curricula traditionally have highlighted the professional attitudes or technical aspects of the fields rather than knowledge upon cultural and social context (Lattuca & Stark, 2009). Intercultural competence is deeply related to developing diverse ways of thinking rather than pursuing dominant knowledge (Deardorff, 2004). Therefore, the purpose of this scholarly paper is to synthesize the value of intercultural competence in the STEM curriculum and to provide educators with information on how they can adapt their academic plan. The results synthesize the benefits of intercultural competence in STEM, example curriculum and support that educators need in curriculum adjustment.
