"It's Really Good Medicine": Perspectives on an Indigenous Language Partnership With Non-Native Students

Sat, April 23, 11:30am to 1:00pm PDT (11:30am to 1:00pm PDT), Manchester Grand Hyatt, Floor: 2nd Level, Harbor Tower, Harbor Ballroom I

Abstract

In an effort to more meaningfully implement a state Indian education policy, three educators (a Salish language instructor, a second-grade classroom teacher, and a university teacher educator) forged a Salish language partnership on traditional lands off of the reservation with mostly non-Native students. This is an analysis of collaborators' perspectives on the process and impact of the language partnership.
