The changes and unexpected obstacles that arose as a consequence of the COVID-19 pandemic resulted in unique learning possibilities for everyone on a global scale. My hope and intention as a Latina, teacher educator and scholar is that the central topics discussed in this self-study will contribute new perspectives about teaching and learning. Additionally, this self-study will add the gap in the literature about Hispanic students and their experiences in teacher education programs in a community college. It is the paradoxical interplay between my inner dialogue that can hopefully lead to a much-needed public and collective conversation that can contribute to education reform and equity for all (Ladson-Billings, 2021).
