Challenges and Opportunities of the Eco-Schools Northern Ireland Program: A Case Study

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigate impacts of the Eco-Schools Northern Ireland program in terms of two main goals: Incorporated environmental awareness and education into the classroom and Expanded sustainable responsibility beyond the classroom. The results show that the Eco-Schools program has been very successful in Northern Ireland in comparison to other countries. Based on the findings of the program evaluation, we will discuss the lessons learned from the challenges and the opportunities to improve the Eco-Schools Northern Ireland program in the future.
