Abstract

While the majority of students in our nation’s schools are students of color, the current educator workforce is overwhelmingly white. Diversification efforts that aim to mitigate enduring ethnic and racial gaps have primarily targeted the recruitment and retention of teachers of color. Yet, there has been considerably less attention given to the diversification of school leadership. The purpose of this paper is to explore the diversification of the school leadership pipeline in the context of a university-district leadership preparation program. The paper reports on the leadership development of one Latina educator through her participation in this university-district preparation program.
