The need for teachers to become more responsive to changing social conditions and student populations is gaining urgency globally given the increasing number of children from low socio-economic, migrant, or “disadvantaged” minoritized backgrounds. In this qualitative multi-case study, using Cochran-Smith’s framework of teaching for social justice as a theoretical lens, we focus on nine teacher educators in Turkey, the United States and Hong Kong, whose research and experience center on preparing teachers to teach immigrant students. Through this study, we seek to gain insight into how they think about teaching immigrant students for educational equity in each context which presents a unique case of immigration, affording a broader, more global view on teacher education for (im)migrant students.
