This study determined the issues of students in English as Medium of Instruction (EMI) classrooms. A cultural course was created where classroom observations were conducted among 58 students in two senior high schools in Taiwan with supporting data from questionnaires and interviews of some students and high school teachers. Data analysis revealed five themes: the English language barrier, teamwork, course content performance, students' academic load, and art of questioning. The present study provides an increased understanding of issues faced by students in EMI classrooms, recommendations, as well as implications to EMI teaching.
