Session Type: Symposium

Abstract

In the past decades many innovations have been introduced in education, but few survived. The sustainability of innovations in education is regarded as one of the main challenges in educational change today. This international symposium seeks to gain a broader and better understanding of the multifaceted process of (facilitating) sustainable innovation in education. The meeting brings together scholars from the U.S., Europe, Asia, and New Zealand. A common thread in the five contributions is the role of social capital/networks in understanding, cultivating and sustaining innovation. The purpose is to compare, complement, and confront insights from different contexts and theoretical viewpoints. In this way we aim to jointly build new insights and think of avenues towards sustainable innovations in education.
