Abstract

This symposium will examine how universities around the world partnered with school systems for the purpose of supporting the continuation of educational opportunity during the COVID-19 pandemic. The panel will include case studies focusing on Chile, Mexico, Russia, Qatar and the United States, and a paper summarizing a cross-case analysis of studies of twenty-two universities, as well as a survey administered to a sample of one hundred universities focusing on the university response during the first year of the pandemic.
The focus of the panel is to examine the socially embedded nature of the university, as a learning organization, in the context of a high impact unexpected shock in the external environment.
