Teacher educators from Canada, England, France, Finland and Germany describe their STEM-focussed research with diverse learners and/or teachers in their respective contexts of diversity. The presenters report the experiences of multilingual students and their STEM teachers and consider the educational resources that can enhance equity for these students in STEM. The researchers explore the nexus between language and STEM and ways to engage teachers in learning about linguistically and culturally responsive STEM pedagogy using multimodal and multilingual resources. Their findings highlight how adopting a critical stance in STEM teacher education can create the conditions for teachers to develop the knowledge, skills and dispositions to meet the needs of 21st century students beyond the five country contexts.
