Abstract

This multi-country symposium brings together researchers from Africa and Asia to share their research on women and girl’s education. According to leading organizations such as the World Bank, UNICEF, Action Aid, there is an eminent need to continue supporting women and girl’s education. This symposium brings forward studies exploring the challenges and local approaches to provide equitable education. The symposium has papers from India highlighting the need for life-skills for girl’s education; a systematic review exploring girls’ education from Sierra Leone; content analysis based on the interviews with teachers from India; historical snapshot of Chinese women and girls to provide insights into social and economic systems impacting education; and time-series analysis of international data to identify the trends of gender equity.
