Abstract

Change within a discipline requires innovative action on many levels. This interactive session will highlight multiple points of entry for building “disciplinary infrastructure” in educational psychology that broadens participation, disrupts current systems of power and privilege, and expands the perspectives that inform the field. Drawing from their own experiences as scholars and leaders who are attempting to affect change, participants in the session will discuss: 1) foundational challenges to broadening participation in educational psychology; 2) the role of journals and other dissemination outlets in supporting disciplinary change; 3) equity focused reform in the context of doctoral programs; 4) decolonizing courses and syllabi; and, 5) building a program of community-engaged scholarship and supporting students who aspire to do this work.
