Session Summary

Liberatory Praxis Through Indigenous Epistemologies, Reconciliation, and Resurgence

Mon, April 25, 11:30am to 1:00pm PDT (11:30am to 1:00pm PDT), Marriott Marquis San Diego Marina, Floor: North Building, Lobby Level, Marriott Grand Ballroom 2

Session Type: Invited Speaker Session

Abstract

Indigenous epistemologies, ontologies, and axiologies must be acknowledged and infused into the process of teaching and learning. For Indigenous peoples, this work is intricately and deeply connected to a decolonial praxis that is both personal and structural—rooted in relations to place, land, ancestors, and stories of emergence/existence. Panelists will center Indigenous methodologies in teaching and teacher education. In doing so, they will challenge settler-colonial logics of dispossession, erasure, and racism to enact liberatory praxis and Indigenous resurgence.
