Division C Fireside Chat: Critical and Equity-Driven Quantitative, Qualitative, and Mixed Methodology

Abstract

Critical race theory is a highly referenced theoretical framework first presented by Derrick Bell in 1992. It’s important that researchers who study racially marginalized or at-risk populations recognize the negative consequences that could emerge from misinterpretation or miss representation. CRT supports the claim that because of the historical events and treatments of racial minorities in our society, we have socially constructed hierarchies through different resources, capital, and other essential commodity distribution. This 2022 Division C Fireside Chat will discuss Critical Race Theory and how it can directly be implemented and honored within multiple research methodologies in order to more accurately interpret variations within or across racial/ethnic identities.
