Building Bridges Between Inner Work and Outer Work: Awakening to Attunement in Curriculum Studies

Abstract

In this session, the relationships between inner work and outer work are explored in the context of social, cultural, and ecological crises through awakenings and attunement to simultaneous embodiment and transcendence. Multiple theories including (but not limited to) Black feminism, Eastern philosophy and ecological spirituality, dream analysis, social justice education, analytic psychology, the third space, currere, and critical race/feminist currere will be drawn upon to illustrate complex pathways of doing inner and outer work. This interactive session invites you to approach external turbulence through working through loss, getting in touch with inner yearnings, and integrating the self through working for social equity and nonviolent cultural change and enabling personal and social transformation.
