The purpose of this paper is to explore the structures, policies, organizational and leadership practices that have historically marginalized Black women teachers. Utilizing Critical Race and Critical Race Feminism, this paper conceptualizes the failure to retain Black women teachers as structural marginalization and the inattention to the intersectional needs of Black women. Through this lens, this work intends to place the voices and needs of Black women at the center of the teacher turnover conversation.
