Multiple Presenter Session: Alternative Session
We accept! The American Educational Studies Association 2024 Call for Participation & Proposals is clearly a rallying cry. This panel takes up that charge and looks to engage in conversation with fellow scholars and practitioners. We hope to share our perspective of capturing an ever-so-elusive how when it comes to creating positive change. Not claiming to be perfect, this non-traditional, teacher preparation program in a major US city would like to share how we affect successful teacher preparation. While success is subjective, the program’s first cohort of teachers all received end of year ratings of either “Effective” or “Highly Effective” at the end of their first year of full-time, certified teachers of record. This panel aims to discuss the innovations that took place during (alternative) teacher preparation that ultimately led to high quality urban education in schools that served primarily Black, Latinx, and Arab-American students.
