Guided by both expansive qualitative methodologies in education and the AESA 2025 conference theme of “Gazing Toward a Multiracial Future of Intersectional Justice: Reconstruction, Representation, & Reparations in Social Foundations”, this paper employs speculative wondering-wandering in the map-bound place of Topeka, Kansas; to examine the intersections of em/placement, relationality, and temporality in a historically significant edupolitical “place”. This work seeks to massage normative notions of knowledge representation and (re)construction, inspired by relationality and em/placement’s role in shaping our educational relationships of the past(s) and into the future(s).
